Pearl – the obvious choice for a squat

Background

Nightingale Dental Centre is a new start-up practice in Margate on the Kent coast. Clare Henderson, the Practice manager, used R4 when she was PM in another practice, which was part of one of the corporates.

Described as ‘clunky’ she endeavoured to pursue another practice management software solution when she made the decision to set up and launch a squat practice.

As a member of a dental practice managers Facebook group, Clare noticed that other members couldn’t help singing the praises of Pearl. They couldn’t recommend Pearl enough! On the back of this, Clare approached Pearl about arranging a demo and the relationship started right then.

Outcomes

The Pearl Onboarding Manager, Charlie Garner, hosted the online demo and it wasn’t long before Clare thought that “this system does all the things that we want”. A decision was made, and an installation and training day was scheduled for before the practice was due to open, leaving enough time for the team to acquaint themselves with the software features.

Installation day involved a run through the software, the core features and to Clare’s surprise the training only required a couple of hours, not what Clare thought. Rather than an overly complicated system, she found it easy to learn and with plans of additional clinicians and staff on the horizon, this boded well for enabling joiners to get up to speed. What’s more, she liked the fact there are training videos and ‘refresher’ videos to access if required, if a learning ‘top up’ is required.

If you have queries, they answer very quickly. Sometimes a question may need a simple answer but I’m never made to feel stupid. Just professional.

When asked what she thought of Pearl so far, 3 words summed it up: “Wonderful all round”.

Using online booking, which the practice has had from the start as a strategy for giving patients choice in how they would like to book their appointments, and it has also helped the practice sign up new patients too.

“What I like is that Pearl invites feedback on the features available and that action is taken quickly if some updates are required or something needs to be explained. This just wouldn’t happen with one of the corporate PMS providers, where requests would have to go not a long queue for consideration, never mind the implementation.”
