New Practice Chooses an Independent Provider
Background
St Clears Dental Studio is start-up practice in Southwest Wales, taking in patients from Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire.
The practice was launched a year ago by husband and wife team Alex, Lead Clinician and Robin, Business Manager.
In deciding on a PMS, they had demos from all the main players in the dental software market and settled on Pearl for two main reasons. The first was how easy it was to learn and use and that the newly recruited team, who had worked with other software in their previous practices, picked it up quickly and liked it. The second reason was that Alex and Robin did not want to take on a PMS that was part of a larger corporate group, not least because one of the conditions of use was that the provider would have access to key practice data and that there would be pressure to buy other services and products from that organisation. This didn't fit the ethos of a private, independent practice.

Outcomes
As a new practice, with its many challenges, the Pearl system has been embraced by both the clinical and support teams.
Charlie was very helpful with the onboarding – from the installation to the very thorough training. He is easy to approach and understands that new practice owners are not going to be software experts!
A cloud-based system has been a definite bonus for the practice and very useful for Robin when checking into the system remotely.
The practice has bought into the online booking module, especially for emergency patients, who can book themselves an appointment.
