Dental Group Transfer From SoE – NHS & Private

Background

The Sterling Dental Group, now rebranded as Sage Dental, is owned by Dr KG Gohil and Dr Jasmin Thoria. It consists of 5 practices.

When they first bought their practices, they had either R4 or SoE practice management software, local server-based systems. The owners were specifically looking for cloud-based practice management, so Pearl was trialled initially in two of their surgeries in Southall, west London.

The trial went very well and the teams liked Pearl PMS, so installation was rolled out across the group, to include White House Dental, a 10 surgery NHS practice in Ealing, Clock Tower Dental in Harrow and Haven in Southwest Wales.

Outcomes

The switch to Pearl was a combination of a “good deal” but crucially the customer service provided from the outset.

With 5 practices it was important for the owners to view what’s happening across their practices from anywhere, so it had to be a cloud-based system. The advanced package provided by Pearl meant that digital X-Rays could also be ‘in the cloud’ too.

As in all businesses, dental practice teams do include people who struggle with change, so introducing new practice management software across the group with an 80 strong team, was always going to be a challenge. Some transfers are more complex, so it was important to Pearl that every practice in the group was visited as part of the onboarding process, with training provided in face-to-face sessions.

“Our people have been open to change because of the simplicity of the Pearl software. Pearl is easy to use and learn with younger members of the team picking it up even quicker. Flexible support is provided, face to face if required, but phone calls typically work well. If there is an issue, it is dealt with remotely, which is efficient.

As a large practice database, data security has always been a top priority for us. With our previous locally hosted server-based software, we had to manage both regular onsite backups and offsite cloud backups, while also ensuring the consistency and reliability of our data. Additionally, we were constantly concerned about the risks of malware attacks and the need to maintain strong data encryption protocols.

Since moving to Pearl, these concerns have been completely alleviated. We no longer have to worry about backup management or data integrity—everything is taken care of seamlessly. This has given us complete peace of mind and allowed us to focus more on delivering quality care and service.”
