JDRM Dental Care Ltd, based in Leicester, is owned by Dr Jai Dhaliwal and Dr Ruby Mahal. The couple became Pearl Dental Software customers in 2009 when they purchased their first practice, which was already using the system. “We loved it and have used Pearl ever since,” says Ruby.
Since then, JDRM has grown significantly — expanding from one to seven practices across Leicestershire, including the successful bid to deliver NHS Urgent Care services for the region. Their rapid expansion required a reliable, scalable system that could support both day-to-day operations and long-term vision. Pearl was the obvious choice.

JDRM’s recent 350% growth created a need for flexible, centralised management. With 125 staff working across multiple sites, visibility and control were essential. Pearl’s modern, cloud-based platform delivered precisely that.
“The new cloud-based architecture is a true blessing for us,” says Jai. “We can access data, manage planning, and oversee operations from any location — even from home. Automatic secure backups add resilience, which is vital for an organisation of our size.”
Pearl now powers every aspect of JDRM’s operations — from appointment booking and compliance to finance and patient communications. This is particularly important as the practice delivers out-of-hours services across the county, requiring dynamic planning and real-time access to data.
As early adopters of the new PearlDental NHS/Mixed Practice version, Jai and Ruby helped shape the platform during development and continue to provide feedback. “We wanted to open our doors using the very latest version of our favourite system,” explains Jai. “It’s already proven in private practice, and we were happy to help tailor it for mixed NHS settings.”
New features like periodontal charting have had a real clinical impact. Jai explains: “We’re heavily involved in the ‘Healthy Gums Do Matter’ initiative, which guides NHS treatment of periodontal conditions. Pearl’s new charting tools support both treatment delivery and accurate UDA claiming. It’s incredibly easy to use.”
Training and onboarding have also been a success. With 125 team members — including associates, VTs, and nurses — JDRM has relied on the Pearl team for training and support. “The training videos and on-site sessions are excellent,” says Jai. “Even team members used to other systems like R4 or Exact picked up Pearl quickly.”
Support is another standout. “The Pearl team is UK-based, so they really understand NHS dentistry,” says Ruby. “Whether it's a technical question or a quick tutorial on a reception task, they’ve been brilliant. Installation is simple, and support is always flexible — even outside of regular hours.”
JDRM’s transformation into one of the UK’s largest NHS urgent dental care providers has been powered by Pearl. From smart multi-site access and flexible workflows to comprehensive support and tailored NHS functionality, Pearl continues to underpin the group’s success.
