Add/Edit Prescription NHS Treatment Items

This guide will ensure you are correct claiming for antibiotics and other prescriptions within Pearl. To do this you need to ensure your ‘Treatment Items’ are setup with the correct FP17 information.

 

  1. First, navigate to the treatment setup window. Go to patient’s record -> Charting Tab -> Settings Cog Button on the bottom left of the screen

 

    •  To add a new treatment item, click the green plus button on the bottom right.
    •  If you want to edit one that already exists, find the selected one with either the search box at the top or by scrolling through the list.

2) A new window will appear where you can either enter new details or edit existing details on a ‘Treatment Item’.

 

Description:

In the Description text box put the name of the item, for example Prescription.

 

Pricing:

Set a price for Default and any additional prices for each of your price plans, by clicking the up and down arrows or type it in using your keyboard. These prices only affect if the item is done Privately Only.

 

Chartable:

If you would like to include this treatment item in your chartable item list then tick the Chartable box. (NOT Recommended for Prescription Items)

NHS FP17 Information

3) NHS courses of treatment will use the same treatment items, however if the item has been setup with the suitable banding and category values, then these will apply instead. It is Important to ensure each ‘Treatment Item’ is setup with suitable banding information.

 

FP17 Band:

Choose a FP17 Band Option which will reflect the total UDAs and Patient Charge (if applicable). For example; Prescription Only.

 

Part 5a Category:

Set a suitable Part 5a Category. an FP17 must include at least one Clinical Data Set (CDS) item that relates to Band treatment item. For example; Prescribed Items Antibiotics. In Wales there is an extended list of prescription items.

FP17DC Category:

An FP17DC category is a classification used to group different types of dental treatments on the Personal Dental Treatment Plan form. Each NHS treatment item must be assigned to one of these FP17DC categories for accurate recording and transparency.
